I think the best way to make sure your workshops are making money is to look at the resources of surrounding towns and build a shop that utilizes recourses that are plentiful in the region to decrease materials cost. For example, in Khuzait you'd most likely make a wool weavery because it seems like every town produces sheep in Khuzait.
The best quests for making money are: Poacher quests: Nets you extra resources. Caravan escort quests: Follow and protect a caravan as it travels. Expect a fight. Smuggling quests: Nice payoff, but you run the risk of being caught and you'll lose some goodwill with the town in which your crime takes
Ash shaft removes requirement for wood which drastically increase price, harpoon head has best damage per iron and maxed length increase that damage. Though it's not top price item, it's really close to it and requires only 1 iron and 1 coal to make, so easily manufactured at huge scales. Which one need to open each part.
Sell to make profit: Sell each type of horse to the city while still “in the green” (still making money on the trade). End transaction. Decrease prices: Sell all remaining horses to the city to reduce the price (The more horses you sell the lower the price will be for the next round and the more profits you will make). End transaction.
Keep making 2h until you unlock javelins. click on the trade screen again, transfer all your donkey to the seller, then transfer all their sumpter horse to you, then trasfer back all your donkey to your inventory, click accept. Repeat steps 3 to 4 until the town run out of money, in which you can choose to wait for a day or go to another town
When you're first starting out in Bannerlord, one of the best ways to make fast money is by completing village quests. Try to visit nearby villages and find quests that focus on delivering
Companions best suited for making money in Bannerlord tend to be on the pricey side 70-80 gold is also roughly what your entire escort should cost daily, so escalating that just to have one more sword along is far from cost-effective.
The only other way I know is smithing which I’m terrible at and don’t really understand is there any other ways to make money that aren’t through war and smithing. Smithing is the best, caravans and workshops help with passive income, but selling loot is a good non-skill way. Build yourself a little merchant scheme. Buy low sell high.
New to Bannerlord online, but not new to Mount and Blade. I started a couple days ago and have 60 Leadership, and am part of a clan. Wanted to know some tips and tricks to make a good amount of money. I finally have a hang of the game, and just mostly have been grinding out some skill levels.
Money making has been massively nerfed around the board and likely will continue to get balancing. Bannerlord money is actually already really close to Warband. I usually played PoP mod so I might be somewhat off with these numbers, but my dyeworks/leathershops costing 10-12k would usually net me 400-600 every week.
Make 20 of em and you have half a million. Fast and easy money without killing anybody. If you want to maximize the sell value of your smithed weapons, multiply the speed * damage. This isn't the exact way that the value is calculated, but it's a good proxy for the actual formula.

The fastest way would be to by the most expensive weapons of each type and smelt them down with curious smelter perk. Requires a lot of gold. Leveling Smithing to max is a grind, not as bad as the Trading to max grind, but still a grind. 1. changer1997.
Now using 2x hardwood I bought for 13 each, I get a piece of coal that I can use to break that made down. Not only do you unlock more items in the forge, you also get materials worth more, just got 8 hardwood, 2 wrought iron, 1 crude iron. So cost: 68 The material I got in the end: 186 (wrought iron x2) + 47 (crude iron x1) + 104 (hardwood) = 337.
