The Sukhoi Su-25 Grach ( Russian: Грач ( rook ); NATO reporting name: Frogfoot) is a subsonic, single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft developed in the Soviet Union by Sukhoi. It was designed to provide close air support for Soviet Ground Forces. The first prototype made its maiden flight on 22 February 1975.
The Su-27’s supersonic cruise speed is higher than that of the F-22 Raptor. The Su-27 flies at a supersonic speed of Mach 2.35 which is about 1,370 km/h as opposed to the F-22 Raptor’s supersonic speed of Mach 1.82 (1,223 km/h). Additionally, the Su-27 has higher operational ceilings and longer range than the F-22 Raptor.
U.S. 4th-and-5th-generation fighter jets, such as the F-35 and F-15, are able to perform impactful “bombing” missions with precision weapons as well, just to a lesser extent. This raises the question that Russia’s Su-34, while introducing potentially unparalleled versatility, could be an aircraft “stuck” between missions.
The Su-57 is listed as being able to reach Mach 2 speeds, which is not as fast as a U.S. 5th-generation F-22 which is reported to be able to reach Mach 2.25. This is not even considering the possible speed of the emerging 6th-generation aircraft. Despite a comparison of each aircraft's apparent stealth properties, much of the F-35’s
